For many women seeking to receive a Get, the greatest challenge seems to be finding an honest non-chauvinistic Beth din.
Try spending some time with some wonderful young womenwho have been in this situation, and you may hear the descriptions of what they experienced. The following is just the tip of the iceberg… All verified and true.
A promise from a so-called rabbi on a Beth din who offered to expedite the Get process if only the young woman would, after going to the Mikveh, ”spend an afternoon or evening” with the said Rabbi. This is not a joke. There is even a recording of this!
One such recording from a so-called Rabbi in Monsey was available online for a period of time. Once the offer was rejected by the young woman, her application and file were buried.
A well-known Rabbi from the Midwest who administers the Get process, checked his information with a the local Rabbi, who happens to employ the individual who was supposed to give the Get.
This young man is known to be [a] abusive, [b] touched other women inappropriately, [c] has documented psychological problems, [d] has a court ordered restraining order, [e] must have a supervisor when visiting with his children. (Obviously information received from the young man’s employer was considered by this “so called”: scholar to be his version of due diligence).
This Rabbi in his wisdom, despite knowing the truth informed the young woman, the intended recipient of the Get, that before anything can proceed, must stop all legal proceedings including those for her safety , that this unfortunate woman has to have the restraining order removed from the abuser. In addition, thatthis unsavory character should have unsupervised visitation with his children.
Shame on the local Rabbi, and shame on the Rabbi from the midwest.
Another woman in Monroe has waited four years and rabbi Zalman Lieb. the Satmar rebbe should be ashamed that No get has been given by his followers
Another Brooklyn Rabbi told a donor that he will get a heter mea rabbonnim if the wife wont remove supervised visits.
Unfortunately, there is no rabbinic recourse for this absurd reckless and totally unfair behavior. No doubt the heavenly court will do justice in due time, but in the meantime, the all mightyDollar rules the day. **
.* In the public interest, the names of the Rabbis are being withheld at this time, to enable them to rectify this situation.
