Shock- Awe- and Saw B”H
There is a very fine line between fanaticism and craziness
True and hard to believe
Does one cry or does one laugh?
You decide.
During the last days of Pesach in the County of Broward in the state of Florida, a beautiful time of great rejoicing particularly in the Hasidic community. It was during this beautiful time that at least two misguided and perhaps crazy so called meshechistim decided to use a local public pool as a mikvah around 11 o’clock in the morning before services.
To complete this immersion requires an individual to enter the water dressed as they were on the day they were born, sans clothing. Not caring that many of the neighborhood families who were partially clothed, appropriate body coverings for sitting by the pool, these individuals, let me be kind,) deranged individuals removed the holiday garments, black hat, long coat etc., and entered the pool to immerse themselves.
The locals were shocked. When the individuals emerged, they put on their kippas but were confronted by some Jewish women who were offended by the lack of common decency, and the enormous chillul Hashem that they had caused.
The now immersed individuals, standing naked in public actually berated the Jewish women for criticizing them!?
The question we have is where are the rabbis who are supposed to be guiding the community in knowing what is right what iswrong and how can we tolerate this behavior. It is time for our weak-kneed Rabbis to start speaking out about things that need to be fixed in our community.
It is time for the rabbis to express themselves when inappropriate behavior takes place in our community.
How do we allow our rabbis to support men who are refusing to give a Get.
Why do they accept the absurd price hikes for Pesach food and some kosher items.
Why are they not supporting the single moms in our community.
Why are many women begging rabbis for the right receive a get and these refusers get Aliya’s
Why do some rabbis not respond to the complaints of women have been to treated very inappropriately by some members of the community, and take appropriate action.
{All of the above items have been documented]
Ask your Rabbi to stand up and be a leader, and take on the issues that some members of our community face on a daily basis.
….. And on the other side of the coin.
In a very friendly Shul in the same Broward County that had this pool story, a group of lay leaders put in a massive amount of time and effort before Pesach and made available about 2500 lbs of glatt OU certified meet, includingsome Beit Yosef, all priced under eight dollars a pound. Other groups can learn to do the same thing
Other groups donated massive amounts of food and money to those who need
But the rabbis aren’t trying to fix the problem of the stores who overcharge for basic items
It would be helpful to the community at large if our rabbis would take a lesson from the congregants.
Rabbis in Florida Say something about this behavior Please
