On June 13, 2015, Anna Goldshmidt and her groom, Elan Stratiyevsky, were to be the stars of an extravagant ceremony and reception at the New York Waldorf Astoria, with 350 guests in attendance. Then a gun carried by Vladimir Gotlibovsky, an allegedly inebriated cousin of the groom, accidentally went off in his pocket. The bullet wildly ricocheted through the room, injuring at least four people, including the bride's mother. That ended the wedding and caused almost all of the guests – including a Russian pop star brought in from Moscow to perform at the reception – to flee in terror.
