Kahanist Calls For Christmas To Be Banned In Israel, Calls Catholic Church “Vampires And Bloodsuckers”

Bentzion “Bentzi” Gopstein, the head of the racist Kahanist anti-miscegenation Lehava organization, has called for Christmas to be banned in Israel. Gopstein, a West Bank settler who lives in Kiryat Arba, also called the Catholic Church “vampires and bloodsuckers,” the AFP reported.
"Christmas has no place in the Holy Land," Gopstein wrote on a Kooker, small haredi website.
Gopstein also claimed there is a "fall of the line of defense of the Jewish people for hundreds of years against our enemies, the Catholic Church.”
“The mission of those vampires and bloodsuckers remains,” Gopstein continued. “If Jews cannot be killed, they can be converted. We must remove the vampires before they drink our blood once again."
The remarks appear to have been made in response to a new Catholic Church policy prohibiting active efforts to convert Jews published by the Vatican December 10 under the title “The Gifts and Calling of God are Irrevocable.”
In it the Vatican wrote that Catholics should witness to their faith but not undertake organized efforts to convert Jews – in effect formalizing what has been informal Church policy for decades.
Along with the new policy, the Vatican also urged greater efforts to fight anti-Semitism and called the Torah the instruction for a successful life in right relationship with God.”
Lehava activists have been tied to a number of hate crimes against Christians and Muslims over recent years, including the arson of a Jewish-Arab school in Jerusalem, and Gopstein has been detained or arrested several times, including for suspicion of incitement to racism.
After his anti-Catholic remarks were published this week, Israeli anti-racism activists called on the government to open a criminal investigation of Gopstein again.
