Israel Police arrested the groom from the so-called "wedding of hate" today along with four other attendees, including one IDF soldier and two minors, Israel’s i24 News and other Israeli media reported.
Video of the wedding, which was held in Jerusalem almost a month ago and leaked to Israel’s Channel 10 News last week, shows revelers dancing to the racist song Zochreini Na (composed by Dov Shurin) while waving machine guns, knives, and at least one Molotov cocktail in the air to celebrate the arson-murders of a Palestinian baby and his sleeping parents in the West Bank Palestinian village of Douma (Duma) in late July. Revelers eventually stab and slash at a photo of the dead baby and then set it alight.
Today, police detained a 50-year-old man from the radical West Bank settlement of Tapuach who is seen in the video dancing with a weapon. His attorney reportedly claims the weapon was a toy.
"The weapon that is allegedly being held is a toy gun, an act that may be tasteless, but not a crime," Itamar Ben-Gvir, himself a follower of the late violent extremist Rabbi Meir Kahane, reportedly said.
Tapuach is the center of Kahane’s racist extremism in Israel. The bride's father, Lenny Goldberg, is a top Kahane activist.
On the wedding video, revelers are seen handing IDF assault rifles and pistols to minors. Some of those present have court or administrative orders prohibiting them from associating with each other or with other wedding attendees while other attendees are reportedly part of criminal cases and were supposed to be following court-ordered restrictions on their movements.
More arrests and detentions of revelers seen on the video are expected to made.
