Pinto's followers claim Pinto was bullied and threatened by the prosecution, and that is why he chose to plead guilty to bribing a top police official. Prosecutors allegedly told Pinto that if he did not plead guilty, Pinto’s wife – who served as his bag man and who was caught on tape passing the bribe to the police officer, would be prosecuted.

“Tens” of followers of convicted kabbalist Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto launched a hunger strike today, Arutz Sheva reported.
Pinto's followers reportedly gathered outside the Sefardi haredi rabbi’s Ashdod yeshiva today to announce the hunger strike. They are demanding that the police investigation into Pinto be reopened and his name cleared.
They claim Pinto was bullied and threatened by the prosecution, and that is why he chose to plead guilty to bribing a top police official.
Prosecutors allegedly threatened that if Pinto did not plead guilty, Pinto’s wife Devorah, who suffers from severe chronic depression, would be prosecuted.
Pinto began serving his extremely lenient one-year prison term late last week.
Devorah Pinto served as her husband's bag man and was caught on tape passing the bribe to the police officer.
