The Israel Broadcasting Authority aired the following report on its news broadcast last week. The report claims that the recent wave of Palestinian terror attacks, many of which have targeted haredim, have prompted some haredim to learn how to shoot and learn self defense – even though the stated haredi theology is that haredi Torah study is what protects Israel from harm – not the IDF or the police. That theological claim is the foundation of haredi refusal to serve in the IDF.
