A car was set on fire in the Umm Tuba neighborhood of the Tsur Baher section of East Jerusalem Saturday night in what police suspect was an anti-Arab hate crime, Ha’aretz reported.
Firefighters found Hebrew graffiti reading "Death to Arabs" and "Administrative revenge" spray-painted near the car.
There have been a string of anti-Arab and anti-Christian hate crimes carried out over the past few years, including arson attacks on churches and monasteries. Most of the attacks were allegedly carried out by members of the West Bank Jewish settler hilltop youth and their supporters. Many of these people are students or followers of Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburgh, a prominent Chabad rabbi (who holds no official position in the Chabad movement) or of Ginsburgh’s top students.
Police have reportedly launched an investigation.
