The New York Post quotes a series of "experts" – one of them a political consultant, not a lawyer or law enforcement professional; another a former state assemblyman; but the third a former top FBI agent – who all claim the former speaker of the New York State Assembly, Sheldon "Shelly" Silver has a "mountain" of evidence against him and will likely lose at trial.

The New York Post reports that "experts" say the former speaker of the New York State Assembly, Sheldon "Shelly" Silver has a "mountain" of evidence against him and will likely lose at trial. Silver, a pillar of the Lower East Side's Orthodox Jewish community, faces a number of federal kickback and corruption charges.
Here is a quote from one of the more credible experts cited by the Post:
…“You have a witness who is going to define the quid pro quo involving a public official, and this witness testifies that he got something of value from that public official in return for something — in this case money,” Ronald Hosko, former FBI assistant director of the Criminal Investigative Division, said of testimony set to be given by Dr. Robert Taub.
“That is absolutely damning evidence against Mr. Silver because it suggests that he was not acting out of the public good,” Hosko added. “He was acting of a personal motivation to enrich himself — it’s all about money and greed. That’s damning, very damning.”…
[Meanwhile] Federal prosecutors also revealed last week that top honchos at the real-estate firm wrapped up in the charges against Silver will testify that the politician called their lobbyist and said there was no problem with his pocketing a portion of the fees they sent a law firm he steered them towards — and that they went along with Silver’s argument because they feared “adverse consequences.”…
