A video recap of just some of the bad behavior of haredi political and religious leaders in Rockland County and Orange County, New York, and of a Modern Orthodox developer and his hasidic allies in nearby Sullivan County helps explain why so many non-Jews and non-Orthodox Jews in the suburbs north of New York City are so opposed to haredim and other Orthodox Jews.
At the end of this video montage, developer Shalom Lamm says there is no proof, not one document, that shows he, his partner and their company lied to Bloomingburg and Mamakating residents and public officials about the nature and scope of their proposed development. But Lamm wasn't being completely forthright. Here is that document.
Past that, the video could easily have been twice or three times as long, and if its maker had wanted to present the haredi side of the story, it could have been doubled in length again.
Regardless, what you are about to see is what shapes how haredim especially are viewed, and the fault for that does not lie with the journalists who filed these reports or the parents and activists protesting haredi bad behavior.
