Rabbi Marc Schneier Allegedly Resigns Hamptons Synagogue
Shmarya Rosenberg • FailedMessiah.com
As exclusively reported on FailedMessiah.com in July, Rabbi Marc Schneier has resigned from his Hamptons synagogue and is moving to Israel to work in real estate.
Schneier announced his resignation on Shabbat, a source close to the situation told FailedMessiah.com. The source said Schneier was forced out by the synagogue's board after being booted out of the Rabbinical Council of America (RCA) earlier this year for sexual indiscretions that took place several years ago surrounding his divorce from his fourth wife and new marriage to his fifth.
Schneier also co-founded and co-headed the the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding with with hip hop mogul Russell Simmons.
Update 9-7-2015 – Schneier's spokesperson Hank Sheinkopf contacted FailedMessiah.com over the weekend and denied the story. "It never happened," Sheinkopf said.
When asked why Schneier had not responded to questions from FailedMessiah.com about his pending resignation posed directly to Schneier via email on July 12, Sheinkopf said he was unaware Schneier had been asked those questions or that FailedMessiah.com had published a story on July 12 that said Schneier would be leaving the synagogue and moving to Israel.
