A horrific crash on Route 17 in Sullivan County [New York in the Catskills] has left a couple and their future son-in-law R”L dead, and other family members in stable condition.
Sources tell YWN that Hatzolah was dispatched to the scene of the crash around 4:30PM Monday afternoon, which was near Exit 112 in the Eastbound direction of the highway.
Multiple ambulances from Hatzolah were dispatched, as well as ambulances from the local EMS and Mobilemebdics and fire departments. Two choppers were initially requested as well.
The couple has been identified as Morris and Beth (Pitem) Faitelewicz Z”L from the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Their future son in law was Yehuda Bayme Z”L of Riverdale, NY. He was engaged to Shani Faitelewicz who was a passenger in the vehicle.
Shani and her two brothers Avi and Yaakov are in stable condition.
Morris was a long-time Hatzolah member (ES-17), as well as a member of NYC Community Board 3. He was also the citywide coordinator and Deputy Inspector of the NYPD Auxiliary Emergency Services Rescue Unit.

He received a New York City Council proclamation in September 2002 honoring the unit for its volunteer work at Ground Zero on and after 9/11, as well as at other major incidents, and the Port Authority’s Exceptional Service Award in June of 2002 for his work at Ground Zero.
Beth Faitelewicz was a nurse at Beth israel Hospital in Manhattan.
Misaskim and Chesed Shel Emmes are on the scene working with local officials to ensure proper Kavod Haniftar is given.
The state police is on the scene, and a lengthy investigation is underway.
