Did the scandal-plagued haredi-controlled East Ramapo Central School District break New York State Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) in an attempt to cover up the educational background of the school district's treasurer, Israel Bier?
It looks like it may have.
Rockland County keeps an identical file on Bier as ERCSD does, and it released the same document to local activist Eric Grossfeld that the ERCSD did – but with markedly different redactions as you can see below.
Note that the extra material ERCSD redacted is primarily the name of the haredi yeshiva Bier attended.
Bier was appointed treasurer by the school board. The previous treasurer Bier replaced was unpaid. But he was abruptly fired by the board, which then appointed Bier to a new paid position as treasurer without public notice.
Bier's education?
The school district doesn't want you to know. But Rockland County released the information, and Bier's education is from Yeshiva Torah Vodaas in Brooklyn and Beth Medrash Elyon in Monsey – not from an accounting program at a university.
