The Nadvorna Rebbe of Jerusalem has ordered his yeshiva students to only wear eyeglasses with frames made of plastic. Many other hasidic groups have similar bans in place, but they require yeshiva students to wear metal frames only.

Nadvorna Rebbe Bans Metal Eyeglass Frames

The Nadvorna Rebbe of Jerusalem has ordered his yeshiva students to only wear eyeglasses with frames made of plastic, Behadrei Haredim reported.
This is reportedly surprising because neither the rebbe or his father who preceded him as rebbe had ever issued similar orders for yeshiva students, and because many other hasidic groups have banned plastic-framed eyeglasses, even though they were commonly worn by hasidic rebbes and yeshivas students throughout the 1960s, 70s and 80s.
