Haredi IDF Soldiers Get Death Threats, Cops Do Nothing

Over the past two weeks, anti-IDF haredim distributed leaflets and pamphlets with the personal information of haredi IDF soldiers and recruiters, and now these same haredi soldiers and recruiters are reportedly receiving threatening messages from fellow haredim.
The haredi IDF soldiers and recruiters complained about the new threats – and the almost non-existent response to them from Israel Police – to Israeli media today.
In one call, an anti-IDF haredi using a clearly fake Arab accent threatened to hunt down a haredi IDF recruiter, who he called a “dog,” at home and kill him, Arutz Sheva reported based on a report in Walla! News.
“If you [haredi IDF soldiers] are Jews, we're ISIS.…Itbach Al-Yahud! [Death to the Jews!],” the anti-IDF haredi caller said.
Over the past two years, anti-IDF haredim have published several versions of wall posters, pamphlets and flyers labeling haredi IDF soldiers as pigs who steal the souls of Jewish children. There have also been waves of anti-IDF haredi mob attacks against haredi IDF soldiers who have gone back to their home neighborhoods to visit family or who were riding on public buses in their uniforms.
Police have made almost no arrests, and even an anti-IDF haredi man who used metal rebar to attack a haredi IDF soldier and then attack police was handled both by the police and the courts with kid gloves.
So far, the men behind the posters, flyers and pamphlets and those organizing the campaign of anti-IDF harassment have not been arrested.
Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, who has extensively courted haredim on behalf of his boss, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reportedly said today that the state should show “zero tolerance” for the "intolerable” violence against haredi soldiers – a statement he has made before with little effect.
"When faced with violence against haredi soldiers and/or those actively helping them be drafted, the state should show zero tolerance. I call upon the heads and leaders of the haredi community to act towards eliminating this unacceptable trend from within their community, as well as expelling the violent perpetrators,” Ya’alon, who has been exempting any haredi from IDF service who asks, despite a High Court of Justice ruling against this type of discriminatory favoritism, said.
