A source familiar with the circus surrounding New York State's pending award of medical marijuana production/distribution licenses tells FailedMessiah.com that in response to a bid for one of those five licenses by a hasidic-controlled company that (falsely) claimed kosher medical marijuana was necessary to meet the religious requirements of the state's kosher consumers, companies bidding for these five licenses have now approached hasidic powerbrokers to partner with them so New York State will consider their applications more favorably.
A source familiar with the circus surrounding New York State's pending award of medical marijuana production/distribution licenses tells FailedMessiah.com that in response to a bid for one of those five licenses by a hasidic-controlled company that (falsely) claimed kosher medical marijuana was necessary to meet the religious requirements of the state's kosher consumers – a claim shamelessly made even though New York State law does not allow medical marijuana to be sold in edible form, marijuana is in itself kosher in any case, and there is no halakhic requirement the producer/distributor be an observant Jew – companies bidding for these five licenses have now approached hasidic powerbrokers to partner with them so New York State will consider their applications more favorably. This even allegedly includes a company that has run afoul of regulators in other states.
The logic for doing this is likely as follows:
Companies view New York State's process as corrupt and its political leaders as corrupt (with good reason), and view these New York State politicians, especially Governor Andrew Cuomo, as having an unusually close and likely corrupt relationship with the hasidic powerbrokers (especially Satmar hasidic powerbrokers) who deliver the hasidic bloc vote. The supposed need for kosher marijuana is just a fig leaf to cover up that corruption.
Word is a deal between one or more of these companies and some of those powerbrokers (or their relatives or designates) could be signed as early as Sunday.
