Britain's The Daily Mail newspaper printed hasidic lies about their rebbe's 'miraculous' escape from the Nazis as if those lies are actually true. But they aren't, and the actual story of that escape is so awful, hasidim have spent decades trying to cover up what their rebbe did. How many Jews were murdered because of this rebbe? Arguably, many.
Above: Rabbi Aharon Rokeach, the 4th Belzer Rebbe
In the Daily Mail's report today on the Belz hasidic ban on women driving (please see my previous post so you follow the lineage of the story back to its two sources, neither of which is the Jewish Chronicle/The JC, even though the Mail wrongly thinks the JC is the source because the JC stole the story from others), we find this appalling lie:
…The Belz leader Rabbi Aharon Rokeach, known as the 'Wonder Rebbe' was at the top of the Gestapo's 'wanted list' of rabbis targeted for extradition and extermination during the Nazi occupation of Poland.
With cash inflow from Belzer Hasidim in Palestine, England and the United States, the Rebbe and his half-brother, Rabbi Mordechai of Bilgoray, managed to stay one step ahead of the Nazis in one miraculous escape attempt after another. The brothers were driven out of occupied Poland and into Hungary by a Hungarian counter-intelligence agent who was friendly to Jews.
Although he had lost his entire family—including his wife, children, grandchildren and in-laws and their families—to the Nazis, Rebbe Aharon re-established his Hasidic court in Tel Aviv, where there was a small Hasidic community.
Both he and Rabbi Mordechai (who had lost his wife and daughter) remarried, but only Rabbi Mordechai had a child, Yissachar Dov Rokeach [the current Belzer Rebbe]…
What the Belzer Rebbe and his brother Mordechai did was lie to the Jews in Hungary, including many who were or had become Belz followers. The Rokeach brothers told them in a public address that they were only leaving for a few weeks, they would return, and that the Jews of Budapest would be safe. And then the brothers ran away, abandoning all those Jews – many of whom were quickly murdered by the Nazis.
Here is what the supposed holy men of Belz did. Please read each post, including the documentation:
