It is but days since the Royal Commission finished its inquiries into the Melbourne and Sydney Chabad child sex abuse scandal and already some progress has been made. Regrettably, in the area of kashrut a glaring oversight remains unchanged. That oversight is the continued employment and involvement of Rabbis Tzvi Hirsh Telsner and Meir Shlomo Kluwgant. Kluwgant was caught lying to Australia's Royal Commission investigation child sex abuse at Chabad institutions and Telsner's testimony there was so problematic, many people want him to be fired. So why are these two men still supervising kosher food production and animal slaughter?

The following introduction and letter is beginning to circulate in Melbourne, Australia's Orthodox and Chabad community:
The below correspondence was sent to a person of "communal authority" who is in full agreement with what the letter asserts & requests.
The reason nothing has changed yet is clear to me.
The REAL Rabbinate have formed a new body, the New ORA, as the old body ORA was hopelessly infected with those whose lack of morals has been exposed recently at the Royal Commission.
Until such time as a new Rabbinic authority is up and running any real change is very problematic.

To continue to accept this hechser is to defend the indefensible,
Thanking you in anticipation of your decision to protest in this most important way…
May I enlist your help with regards to a Kashrut matter that seems not
as yet to have been addressed.

Regrettably I still see in the area of Kashrut a glaring oversight that
That oversight is the continued employment & involvement of Rabbis
Telsner & Kluwgant.
Kashrut is no ordinary matter.
Kashrut must be administered from the top down by those of impeccable
integrity & piety.
The recent events at the Royal Commission have shattered the beliefs
many in the Jewish community held about those in positions of spiritual
The continued employment of these two Rabbis is untenable if the
integrity of the community is to be upheld.
If these two Rabbis are allowed to continue being involved in Kashrut it
is a clear signal to Jewry & the non Jewish world that the evils
exposed in the Royal Commission
are not confined to a derelict minority of Jews.
I for one will no longer accept the Chabad hecher whilst the status quo
is in place & suggest that to do otherwise is indefensible,
Thanking you in anticipation of a reply & your help in addressing this
