Rabbi Chaim Meir Hager, the fourth rebbe of Vizhnitz dynasty of hasidim, better known by the name of his book Imrei Chaim, passed away 43 years ago today.
In honor of the yahrtzeit, Vizhnitz hasidim reportedly lit candles last night in the Vizhnitz yeshiva in Bnei Brak located near the home of the current Vizhnitz rebbe.
Those candles were apparently lit on a table strewn with prayer books and paper plates and, only a week after the horrific house fire in Brooklyn that killed seven haredi children and critically injured two other members of that family, the hasidim apparently left those candles unattended.
The candles started a fire and, while there were no reported injuries, there was minor damage to the yeshiva’s study hall and to some of the books kept there.
