With Pesach cleaning in high gear and after several incidents in the past years, Lakewood Hatzolah is asking parents to be aware of the dangers of the powerful St. Moritz chemical spray.
The chemical, which appears to be just another cleaning agent available in groceries, can cause serious and permanent injuries.
Several groceries have stopped carrying the product after children suffered serious injures to their face.
Parents of one child requested the graphic picture of their burned child be made public to serve as a reminder to parents to use extreme caution with the chemical.
Even a slight amount of the chemical coming in contact with skin or eyes, can cause irreversible damage.
Alternative and less-lethal chemicals are available.
As you can see from the following two photos I found, this dangerous cleaning product has a hechsher (haredi rabbinic supervision), just as those dangerous Shabbat hotplates known as platas do.
