The Satmar hasidic Village of Kiryas Joel, New York has launched a public relations advertising campaign that touts Kiryas Joel's "respect" and "sustainability" – two things non-Satmar locals overwhelmingly find to be untrue. Instead, from its community poultry plant with horrific EPA violations and KJ's near-complete disrespect for its neighbors, Kiryas Joel has proved itself to be the antithesis of sustainable and respectful, many locals say.
