Rabbi Benny Elon In Critical Condition

Former Israel Cabinet Minister Rabbi Benny Elon is reportedly in critical condition in an Israeli hospital. The 61-year-old Elon has been fighting an undisclosed illness for a long period of time.

Former Israel Cabinet Minister Rabbi Benny Elon is reportedly in critical condition in an Israeli hospital. The 61-year-old Elon has been fighting an undisclosed illness for a long period of time.

His family has asked for people to pray for Rabbi Binyamin ben Ruth.

Elon was the Chief Rabbi of Kibbutz Shluchot and the Rosh Yeshiva (dean) of Beit Orot Hesder Yeshiva in East Jerusalem.

He served in Knesset for a decade from 1996 to 2006 and was kicked out of the cabinet by then-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon after he refused to vote in favor of Sharon’s plan to disengage from the Gaza Strip.

Elon is a son of late Supreme Court Justice Menachem Elon and a brother of convicted molester Rabbi Mordechai Elon.
