A convicted child molester who was given a slap on the wrist sentence by a Brooklyn judge has now pleaded guilty to federal charges related to the case, the Daily News reported this afternoon.
In response, Andrew Goodman, 30, was indicted by the federal government for transporting one of his two child victims over state lines for the purpose of having illicit sex with him.
In court today, Goodman – who insisted on acting as his own attorney – admitted his guilt.
"We kept on our romantic and sexual relationship," he told the judge.
The victim was 13-years-old at the time. His brother, who Goodman also molested, was a year younger.
Goodman reportedlyf aces a mandatory minimum prison sentence of 10 years but could be sentenced to as much as life in prison. He is slated to be sentenced on April 24. The judge reportedly granted Goodman's request to reappoint a public defender to represent him for the sentencing process.
Shocking and revolting spectators, attorneys and the victim, during his state trial Goodman – who comes from a haredi background and was at one time affiliated with the haredi social services organization Ohel – called out to this victim in the courtroom, telling him "I love you."
Goodman also tried to claim that he and the boy were married in the eyes of halakha (Orthodox Jewish law).
