In the first public comments she has made in the media about the case, Washington, DC Chief of Police Cathy L. Lanier told a DC television station today that the investigation into alleged voyeur Rabbi Barry Freundel is expected to take “some time.”
“It’s really a tragic case and it is going to take some time for all the details to unfold,” Lanier reportedly told NewsChannel 8. “I think this case will be rolling out for some time. For people who are potential victims, that is agonizing,” and added that it is important that those potential victims “who are part of this larger family [of victims] can follow what is going on.”
To facilitate that, the US Attorney’s office has set up a hotline for potential Freundel victims. The number is 202-252-7585. There is also a special email address: [email protected], and a website.
Freundel has a scheduled hearing in DC Superior Court on November 12.
