A New York State judge has ruled that, despite the fact that Eliyahu Weinstein's attorneys did not do what anyone would consider to be due diligence and failed in their ethical duties, those attorneys don't have to repay millions of dollars given to it by Weinstein associates. Those attorneys? Rabbi Moshe Lehrfield and his firm Greenberg Taurig and Proskauer Rose.

New York Supreme Court (i.e., lower court) Judge O. Peter Sherwood ruled that, despite the fact that haredi über fraudster Eliyahu Weinstein's attorneys did not do what anyone would consider to be due diligence, and despite that fact that they should have known that it was highly likely (if not certain) that $1 million retainer transferred to them for Eliyahu Weinstein was money stolen from innocents, and despite all the evidence against those attorneys, because there is no smoking gun in which the attorneys admit knowing the money was stolen or that shows with 100% certainty that it was, the attorneys can keep the millions of dollars.
Those attorneys? Rabbi Moshe Lehrfield and his firm Greenberg Traurig ($2.83 million to buy the Belle Glade Gardens appartments) and Proskauer Rose ($1 million to defend Weinstein).
And, this judge added, while the attorneys had a fiduciary duty to Weinstein and Schleider, they did not have one to Weinstein's and Schleider's victims.
As we see so often here, New York is a cesspool.

Here are two new alleged emails involving convicted Weinstein co-conspirator Alex Schleider that (for those closely following this case) make the judge look even more foolish than he does already.Note Schleider's admission that he's getting a commission on the deal.
Also note that Guggenheim appears to be the haredi fake Guggenheim who got caught trying scam people in 2011.
Here's a speadsheet of some of Rabbi Chaim Shea Babad's insurance policies that are mentioned in one of the emails:
