Hasidic Singer Attacked By Haredim In Beit Shemesh Over Support For IDF

Hasidic singer Arale Samet was attacked this afternoon in Beit Shemesh by a group of haredi Sicarii gang members, Behadrei Haredim reported.
Samet is a Toldos Avraham Yitzchok hasidic sect and is described as one of the greatest singers in the history of the hasidic community.
Samet was attacked in the street Sicarii members who reportedly shouted “Hard”k!” (a haredi slur reserved for IDF soldiers, loosely translated as “haredi cockroach”) at him.
The attack apparently occurred after someone posted photoshopped photos showing Samet singing for uniformed IDF soldiers on the border with Gaza.
Beit Shemesh, a bedroom suburb of both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, has become a hotbed of haredi violence over the past several years, most of it directed at non-haredi residents, primarily women and girls.
But some of that haredi violence has been directed against haredim thought to be disloyal to the extremist wing of the itself extremist and virulently anti-Zionist Edah Haredit haredi umbrella organization, which is made up primarily of hasidic groups. Lately that has meant an attack on an active duty Israeli soldier on a brief leave from Gaza fighting and the attack on Samet.
