US Secretary of State John Kerry and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon have announced a 72-hour cease fire to begin at 8:00 am Israel time (midnight US Central Time), during which representatives of Israel, Hamas and the PA are expected to meet in Egypt to work out larger issues.

US Secretary of State John Kerry and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon have just announced a 72-hour cease fire to begin at 8:00 am Israel time (midnight US Central Time), during which representatives of Israel, Hamas and the PA are expected to meet in Egypt to work out larger issues, CNN has just reported.
Both Israel and Hamas agreed to keep the new cease fire, the joint US-UN statement reportedly says.
Update 5:03 PM CDT – CNN has just received confirmation from Hamas that it's political and military arms have both agreed to the cease fire, as have all other miltant groups in Gaza, like Islamic Jihad.
Forces on the ground will remain in place during the cease fire. Israel's ability to continue to destroy Hamas terror tunnels during the cease fire is not clear.
