A 37-year-old Israeli volunteer who appears to be a Chabad hasid was bringing food to IDF soldiers near the Gaza border at the Erez crossing when he was injured by mortar fire from Gaza earlier today.
He died from injuries just a few minutes ago enroute to Barzilai Hospital.
Another man, apparently a 44-year-old Chabad hasid, was reportedly critically injured by the same mortar and is now hospitalized at Barzilai.
This is the first Israeli death since the latest Gaza fighting began one week ago.

Update 7:50 pm CDT – The 37-year-old man's actual name is Dror Khenin (or Chanin). He was not a Chabad hasid or haredi and does not even appear to have been Orthodox.
