Soldiers from a Nahal Haredi unit were sentenced to 10 days in military prison after posting pictures of themselves on Facebook calling for the right to kill suspected terrorists, rather than try to apprehend them, in revenge for the kidnapping and murder of three Zionsit Orthodox teens on the West Bank.
Ha'aretz is reporting that soldiers from a Nahal Haredi unit were sentenced to 10 days in military prison after posting pictures of themselves on Facebook calling for acts of revenge for the kidnapping and murder of three Zionsit Orthodox teens on the West Bank.
The IDF Spokesman said the soldiers were punished for "operating against military rules. This is a grave matter that is inconsistent with what is expected of an IDF soldier. Any incident that commanders learn of will be treated with utmost severity."
In 2010, four Nahal Haredi soldiers were indicted after photos of them posing and pointing their guns at a bound and blindfolded Palestinian man were found on their mobile phones.
Update 3:11 pm CDT – Ynet is reporting that the message the soldiers posted reads "Bibi, let us annihilate terrorists" – meaning they want a shoot to kill order to be issued that would allow the IDF to kill, rather than attempt to apprehend, suspected or known terrorists.
Other Nahal Haredi soldiers posted messages reading, "The battalion demands revenge." They have not yet been arrested.
