Haredi Day Camp Delays Opening, Refuses To Refund Parents’ Money

A haredi day camp for 2- to 9-year-olds, My Yellow Bus run by a Rebbitzen Liefer, moved from its old facilites to new facilities almost two weeks ago. But it lacked proper permits and a certificate of occupancy and could not open for days, leaving kids and parents stranded without a day camp – even though parents had paid for the camp in advance.
Some parents had to hire babysitters to cover for the days the camp was closed while others had to send their kids to different camps.
According to emails and text messages seen by FailedMessiah.com, the camp consistently refused to answer parents' requests for refunds and provided evasive information about the date of the camp's opening, and then later trumpeted that opening on sites like Yeshiva World without mentioning the damage it had already caused these families – who have not been given refunds.
Instead, the camp says it will remain open longer – but that poses a problem because of when many haredi schools start their fall sessions and for parents who had already made daycare or vacation plans for any days left uncovered by the camp's original schedule.
A call to Rebbitzen Liefer through the camp's automatic answering system from FailedMessiah.com was not answered.
