Haredi rabbis have long claimed the Torah study of their students protects Israel from harm and have used that theology to order their students not to serve in the IDF, but when missiles begin to fly, these haredi yeshivas run away, leaving the spiritual front line to non-haredim – and the actual front line to the IDF, which haredi yeshiva students do not serve in.
As Missiles Fly, Haredi Yeshivas Flee South, Mocked By Non-Haredim For Cowardice

The Zionist Orthodox news website Srugim ran a headline reading “lacking faith, the haredi yeshivas flee the south” Yeshiva World reported.
The article underneath it cites reports in the haredi news website Kikar HaShabbat that a series of haredi yeshivas in southern Israel within 25 miles or so of Gaza are closing. Both hasidic and non-hasidic haredi yeshivas have closed and sent their students and faculty further north until the rocket fire ends.
However, Zionist Orthodox hesder yeshivas in that area are not fleeing, according to Srugim, because they are unwilling to abandon hundreds of thousands of Jews in the area and demoralize them.
Haredi rabbis have long claimed the Torah study of their students protects Israel from harm and have used that theology to order their students not to serve in the IDF, but when missiles begin to fly, these haredi yeshivas run away, leaving the spiritual front line to non-haredim – and the actual front line to the IDF, which haredi yeshiva students do not serve in, the Srugim report aims to show.
