The union of Zionist Orthodox hesder yeshivas, which combine active duty military service with Torah study, announced that students currently serving on active duty in the IDF will extend their time of active duty service to provide additional manpower to help the IDF try to find and return the three Zionist Orthodox teenage boys kidnapped by terrorists in the West Bank more than two weeks ago, Yeshiva World reported based on a report in the West Bank settler-controlled Arutz Sheva news website.
The IDF Spokesman’s Office reportedly praised the move.
16-year-olds Gil-Ad Shaar and Naftali Frenkel (an American citizen whose parents immigrated to Israel years ago) and 19-year-old Eyal Yifrach were hitchhiking alone late at night in the West Bank when they were kidnapped.
The 16-year-olds are students in a West Bank yeshiva run by Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz.
