Rabbi Yaakov Adas reportedly claimed that prayer in a “tamei” (spiritually impure) place, in a place of idol worship, has the opposite of its intended effect and, because Peres, Abbas and the Pope prayed for peace in the Vatican, instead Israel got violence and the terrorist kidnapping of three boys.

Haredi Kabbalist Says Terrorist Kidnapping Happened Because Israel’s President Prayed With Pope At “Impure” Vatican

Rabbi Yaakov Adas, the kabbalist who was hospitalized at Shaarei Tzedek hospital Friday after collapsing at the Kotel (Western Wall), said Friday night that the terrorist kidnapping of three Zionist Orthodox boys June 12 in the West Bank was caused by Israeli President Shimon Peres’ participation in a Vatican prayer service for peace with Pope Frances and PA Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Yeshiva World reported based on a report in the haredi news website Kikar HaShabbat.
Adas was hospitalized after reportedly fasting for the entire week after the boys were kidnapped.
Friday night, Adas was taken to the hospital’s synagogue where he prayed. He was returned to his room but requested to be taken back to the hospital synagogue. Once there, he “hinted in his words” that the kidnapping – which took place while the boys were hitchhiking in the West Bank alone late at night – was caused by Peres’ participation in the Vatican’s non-denominational prayer service.
Adas reportedly claimed that prayer in a “tamei” (spiritually impure) place, in a place of idol worship, has the opposite of its intended effect and, because Peres, Abbas and the Pope prayed for peace in the Vatican, instead Israel got violence and the terrorist kidnapping of three boys.
Adas regularly exhibits severe symptoms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and is considered to be extremely eccentric by many Israelis. Even so, he is respected as a kabbalist and rabbi in the haredi community.
He was reportedly released from the hospital late Saturday night, but had to be returned to the hospital in the predawn hours of Sunday morning after feeling ill again. Adas reportedly prayed the morning prayer service at sunrise Sunday morning on the hospital’s balcony.
Haredi media reported that Adas was suffering from dehydration.
