A haredi beit din (religious court), Beit Din Halichot Olam, founded by the late Sefardi haredi leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, has ordered a manager of a haredi girls high school and seminary to sever contact with the school and its students and move out of Jerusalem, Yeshiva World reported.
Aaron Ramati, the manager of Midrashah Be’er Miriam, which is located on Shaul HaMelech Street in the Sanhedria neighborhood of Jerusalem, was given 30 days clear out of the city.
Ramati has reportedly been the target of very serious allegations in recent years – including orperating the school like a cult.
Two months ago based on witness testimony, the beit din ruled against Ramati, ordering him sever his relationship with the school and to have no contact with the girls from the school in person or on the phone or in writing.
But Ramati ignored the beit din’s ruling and reportedly remains in contact with the girls.
Rabbis Baruch Shraga, Yitzchak Cohen and Shmuel Pinhasi signed the beit din’s order telling Ramati to leave Jerusalem.
A few years ago, leading haredi rabbis from both the Ashkenazi and Sefardi communities – including Ashkenazi haredi leader Yosef Sholom Elyashiv, Sefardi haredi leader Ovadia Yosef, current Ashkenazi haredi leader Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman, Chaim Kanievsky – reportedly signed an very harsh letter against Ramati.
