"…The first thing is not to panic, and to trust the Creator…do not pay any attention to all the letters that arrive from [the IDF]. Parents should treat the [draft] order [for thir son] as if it is just some kind of [simple] note, and ignore all letters from the army. Of course, as I have said, you must increase Torah study, and thus the [evil] decrees [from the government and the IDF against us] will be cancelled."

Vizhniter Rebbe Tells Yeshiva Students To Dodge The Draft No Matter What

On Monday, the Vizhniter Rebbe reportedly ordered his yeshiva students not to respond to IDF draft notices.
"People are walking around in a state of embarrassment and confusion, there are harsh and terrible decrees here in Israel on military affairs.
"They send letters to come and report to the recruitment bureau, and if [a yeshiva student] fails to report – they threaten to jail him. People receive letters – the first summons, the second summons, the third summons – and it says that their child must report, and [the parents] do not know what will happen and start to think, ‘here come the police to take our son into custody!’
"So the first thing is not to panic, and to trust the Creator…do not pay any attention to all the letters that arrive from them. Parents should treat the order as if it is just some kind of note, and ignore all letters from the army. Of course, as I have said, you must increase Torah study, and thus the [evil] decrees [against us] will be cancelled."
This allies Vizhnitz with the non-hasidic haredi rebel faction led by Rabbi Shmuel Auerbach.
Many months ago, Auerbach ordered yeshiva students not to respond to draft notices and has refused to change his position, despite the fact that some yeshiva students who follow him have been arrested and imprisoned from draft-dodging as a result.
The Viznitzer Rebbe also previously spoken out harshly against the draft and urged yeshiva students not to report if summoned.
Haredi yeshiva students who do report to IDF induction centers when summoned are usually given draft exemptions or deferments when they show they are full-time yeshiva students – even though those draft exemptions and deferments are arguably illegal. But Israel’s Likud-led government, desperate for future haredi Knesset support, has been ignoring the clear intent of Israel’s High Court of Justice and has granted them anyway.
All haredi politicians and religious leaders oppose any haredi yeshiva students serving the military. They argue that haredim should be allowed to study full time in yeshivas well into middle age while receiving complete draft exemptions, government welfare and stipends, and have repeatedly accused secular and non-haredi Israelis of being anti-Jewish or anti-Semites for attempting to draft them.
