A homeless woman approched the rabbi of the synagogue, Rabbi L, showed him a letter vouching for her from the Va'ad of Queens, and asked Rabbi L. for maos chitim (Passover charity) money. The rabbi allegedly yelled at woman in front of onlookers and stood by as she broke into tears and then walked away.
Eyewitnesses told Failedmessiah.com the following incident happened inside a well-known haredi synagogue near Avenue L in Brooklyn about 10 days ago.
A homeless woman approched the rabbi of the synagogue, Rabbi L, showed him a letter vouching for her from the Va'ad of Queens, and asked Rabbi L. for maos chitim (Passover charity) money.
"Leave me alone! Don't bother me! I am not going to talk to you!," Rabbi L. shouted at the startled woman as people watched, and refused to give her any charity money.
The woman broke into tears and left.
The rabbi allegedly made no attempt to apologize or console her.
