Haredi IDF Soldier Verbally Assaulted In Haredi City By Haredim

A haredi IDF soldier, Baruch Indig, was standing at a bus stop in the haredi city of Bnei Brak last night at about 7:00 pm when he says he was approached by two haredi yeshiva students.
The two haredi yeshiva students handed Indig a flyer and then shouted at him, “Chardak [insect; haredi traitor who serves in the IDF]! Get out of our City! You are an embarrassment to Yiddishkeit [Judaism]!”
As Indig stood in shock, other haredim in the area began screaming at him as well, Yeshiva World reported.
On his Facebook page, Indig described what happened.
“I was standing at a stop on Rabbi Akiva Street wearing my uniform waiting for a bus to get home. Two haredi yeshiva students approached me. They appeared okay and one even had a beard. They gave me a paper and while I was looking at it they shouted, ‘Chardak! Get out of our city! You are an embarrassment to Yiddishkheit [Judaism]!’”
Indig said he had tears in his eyes and pointed out that he was especially upset by haredi passersby who joined in the attack against him.
“This is the first time that I encountered such a situation, [this] hate against a haredi soldier. They had a look of humiliation and disrespect.”
Both verbal and physical attacks by haredi yeshiva students against haredi soldiers have become commonplace since the government has been compelled by the High Court of Justice to draft haredim rather than give almost all haredim blanket exemptions to IDF service if they study in yeshiva full time.
Secular and other non-haredi students, either in non-haredi yeshivas or universities, are not exempt from the draft.
Haredi political and religious leaders have demonized the government, the High Court of Justice and haredi soldiers themselves while insisting it is anti-Semitic or anti-Jewish to compel any haredi yeshiva students to serve in israel’s military.
