A tony Upper West Side commercial property that was supposed to house a synagogue led by Sefardi haredi kabbalist to the stars Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto has been listed for sale, the Commercial Observer reported today.
Ilan Bracha, the founder of Keller Williams NYC and a close aide and supporter of Pinto, listed the 2,786-square-foot unit at Heritage at Trump Place at 240 Riverside Boulevard for sale for $1.75 million. The unit has a private entrance on 72nd Street.
B+B Investment Group, founded by Bracha and Haim Binstock, another Pinto supporter, purchased the ground-floor space for $1.65 million in 2008 for Pinto.
In 2010, the condo board reportedly obtained a judgment against Bracha and Binstock after they failed to pay common charges, interest and other fees.
In May 2011, Bank of America started a $1.2 million foreclosure proceeding against Pinto, Bracha and Binstock.
As reported earlier today, another lender launched a foreclosure proceeding for Pinto’s main Manhattan synagogue and study center last week.
Pinto is also under criminal investigation in Israel for alleged bribery, money laundering, embezzlement, witness tampering and related charges, and Israel's High Court of Justice ruled last week that his Hazon Yeshaya charity defrauded donors and should be liquidated.
It is possible proceeds from the sale of Pinto’s Trump Place property may be used to help settle the allegations against him in Israel.
