Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto
The Israeli Hebrew language business daily Calcalist reports that Israel's High Court of Justice has upheld a lower court ruling to liquidate Sefardi haredi kabbalist to the stars Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto's Hazon Yishaya charity.
The High Court found that there was "plenty of evidence" that Hazon Yeshaya "acted illegally to deceive donors."
Among the wrongs Hazon Yeshaya committed was to take large food donations earmarked for Holocaust survivors and divert them to the black market. The food was sold, and Hazon Yeshaya's top staff allegedly pocked the cash, some of which was then given to Pinto – Hazon Yeshaya's "honorary" president – to support his lavish lifestyle.
Pinto is currently under investigation for alleged bribery, money laundering, witness tampering, embezzlement, and related crimes, all based on his attempts to bribe police to get inside information on the progress of their criminal investigation into Hazon Yeshaya.
