How much jail time do four counts of bribing a witness and one count of tampering with a witness get you? If you're a well-connected Satmar hasid living in Brooklyn and prosecuted under the reign of former DA Charles J. Hynes, the answer is – only 2 1/2 months.
Abraham Rubin, the Satmar hasid who tried to bribe both the teenage victim of Satmar sex abuser Nechemya Weberman and her boyfriend with $500,000, was sentenced on January 10 to four months in jail for his crimes.
But Rubin only served 2 1/2 months of that already extremely lenient sentence. He was released from jail this morning, just in time to get ready for Shabbat.
Rubin tried to get the victim and her now-husband to flee the country rather than testify against Weberman.
