Belz hasidim, the second largest hasidic group in Israel, has threatened to leave Israel en masse for the US if the proposed draft law is passed by the Knesset in its current form which provides for the draft of some haredi yeshiva students and opens the door for tens of thousands more to leave their yeshivas and join the workforce. The Belzer Rebbe's brother-in-law is the Kiryas Joel Satmar Rebbe, who has allegedly pledged to help with this mass immigration to America, and Belz claims "US senators" are helping to arrange refugee status for Belz hasidim.
The Belz-controlled HaMachane HaHaredim printed a banner headline announcing Belz's planned exodus from Israel:
