Millions of dollars allegedly stolen from a New Zealand farmer and his family by haredi über-thief Eliyahu Weinstein (pictured at right) was allegedly given to Rabbi Chaim Shia Babad by Weinstein proxy Rabbi Fred "Fischel" Todd so Babad could make premium payments on hundreds of millions of dollars in life insurance policies he took out against the lives of Jews – some of whom may have been unaware the policies existed or that Babad was betting that they would die soon. Sources close to the Weinstein criminal case believe Babad laundered money for Weinstein and was a direct paricipant in the theft of the money that was later 'lent' to him by Weinstein through 148 Investments.
