Rabbi Yisroel Reisman, a rosh yeshiva (dean) of Yeshiva Torah Vodaas in Brooklyn, New York whose public classes are streamed live worldwide, told his students Saturday night that "we" would love to kill all the non-Jewish residents of Hebron and the other cities and towns in the Land of Israel, just like we killed Canaanites in Biblical times.

As you know, Rabbi Yisroel Reisman's Tanach shiur on Motzei Shabbat is streamed and broadcast to thousands of Jews all over the United States and is widely distributed afterwards. This past Motzei Shabbat Rabbi Reisman began his shiur by discussing Yehoshu's conquests in Canaan in which he comes to city after city and kills their entire populations. Describing the utter destruction of Hebron by Yehoshua, Rabbi Reisman adds in an off-handed remark, "At least Chevron we can picture. Coming to Chevron and destroying all its inhabitants is something we would love to happen again." [empasis added]
It was almost a throwaway line and therein lies its great danger. The way it was casually delivered allowed it to seep into the minds of thousands of his listeners and be accepted without any critical reflection. Rabbi Reisman offered no wish for finding a peaceful resolution of Israel's current conflict with Arabs. Instead, we learn that killing all of Hebron's Arab residents is his dream and reflects his religious worldview. In his defense he did not call for Jews to actually go out and kill Arabs. So perhaps it falls just a tad short of the Jewish version of Jihad.
