Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky: Throw All Students Who Voted For Haredi Rebel Faction Out Of Yeshivas Immediately

A major dispute is brewing in the Israel haredi city of Bnei Brak.
Mainstream Ashkenazi haredi number two leader Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky has demanded that haredi yeshiva students who voted against candidates endorsed by senior mainstream Ashkenazi haredi leader Rabbi Aaron Leib Shteinman in last week's local Israeli elections should be expelled from all haredi yeshivas.
Kanievsky has refused to backtrack from his order despite protests from several haredi rosh yeshivas (deans).
The students in question voted for Rabbi Shmuel Auerbach’s Ashkenazi haredi rebel faction’s slate of candidates.
These haredi rosh yeshivas will be meeting along with others in Shteinman’s Bnei Brak home today in the hope, Yeshiva World reports, “of reversing the decision.”
Kanievsky recently said all rebel backers could be stoned to death under halakha, Jewish law.
Last week, a married haredi yeshiva student physically attacked the 99-year-old Shteinman.
