Greenfield – who reportedly kept Thompson waiting for almost 90 minutes – had previously claimed that Thompson would "target Jews" and is widely thought to be one the key architects of incumbent Brooklyn D.A. Charles J. Hynes' race-baiting strategy.
Greenfield chalked up his previous harsh anti-Thompson statements to rough and tumble NYC politics as usual. He also said his previous support for Hynes was given because haredi community leaders supported Hynes. But now they support Thompson, Greenfield said, after Thompson crushed Hynes in the Democratic primary.
Hynes is now running as a Republican and a Conservative.
Greenfield, a Democrat, is also endorsed by the Conservative Party.
