Brooklyn is to corruption what a petri dish is to a fungus, and arguably corrupt Brooklyn D.A. Charles J. Hynes is directly benefiting from the corruption he refuses to see or investigate – even though it is his job to do so.

The New York Board of Elections reportedly told Gothamist that the job of investigating the exchange of raffle tickets for votes happening in hasidic Williamsburg today is not its responsibility.
Why?
Because the raffle is located than 100 feet away from the polling place, which makes it a law enforcement issue.
And that means Brooklyn District Attorney Charles J. Hynes – the benefactor of many of those corrupt, illegal votes – is responsible to enforce the law – something the arguably corrupt D.A. is said to be reluctant to do.
A former Brooklyn Assistant District Attorney told Gothamist – which has done amazing reporting today – that this votes for cash prizes or choice goods raffle is not new and it isn't a secret.
"This raffle has been going on for years. Everybody knows about it, but no one is going to put a stop to it. Hynes is just a politician, not a District Attorney. He just needs their votes. He's a figurehead,” the former A.D.A. reportedly said.
A spokesman for the hear no evil, see no evil Brooklyn DA said Hynes’ office wasn't aware of any reports of vote fraud today.
A spokesperson for New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman had no comment on the raffles – which, despite that silence, are a clear violation of election law.
Gothamist also discovered a separate raffle run by the Satmar Aharonite faction outside the polling station at the intersection of Bedford and Wilson in South Williamsburg.
Again, the D.A. votes must go to Hynes to get a ticket. But unlike the earlier raffle Gothamist discovered run by the Zalman Satmar faction, the Aharonites endorsed Bill de Blasio instead of Bill Thompson for mayor.
Instead of the $250 prizes and the gift certificates of Zalman faction vote raffle, the Aharonite faction’s raffle gives has discounted tuition at a local yeshiva as the main prize.
The raffle tables were manned by teenage hasidic yeshiva students who told Gothamist they were bused to Brooklyn from yeshivas in New Jersey. They told Gothamist that voters can enter the raffle only after the raffle table’s staff was shown proof that they've voted.
