The Brooklyn-based Satmar-hasid-owned Der Blatt Yiddish newspaper published a letter today claiming that the first Satmar Rebbe, Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum, said that all "goyyim" are "dirty." The paper does not question this or contradict it in any way. Der Blatt was founded by and remains under the control of the Aharonite Satmar faction that follows the Kiryas Joel Satmar Rebbe Aharon Teitelbaum. Here is the letter and a translation:
A translation of the letter sent in by my source:
All Goyim Are Dirty
I heard from grandchildren of Rabbi Avigdor Miller, of blessed memory, that there was a case years ago when our Holy Rabbi Yoel of Satmar [the first Satmar Rebbe who passed away in 1979] sent a message to an ahral [uncircumcised; a derogatory term for a non-Jew] who had a high position, for the benefit of the Jewish people.
So Rabbi Miller sent a message to the rebbe that he should not use that goy because he is a filthy and lowly bum, and by using him he'll receive honor and encouragement, and it will be inevitable that it would become known that Orthodox Jews were helped by this ahral.
The rebbe (of Satmar) responded: all goyim are dirty.
Update 5:32 pm CDT – In the comments below, Barry notes that my source did not translate the entire letter, robbing it of its proper context:
The first paragraph mentions and seeks the understanding of those critics of Ahron Teitelbaums endorsement of [Democratic mayoral candidate Bill] d[e] Blasio who object to any participation in the vote for any of the Democrat candidates
The story about Yoelish and Miller is given as a response to these critics.
De[r] Blatt[,] which is the mouthpiece of Ahron Teitelbuam[,] is clear[l]y equating d[e] Blasio with that nameless filty no good bum of a goy politician of Yoelish's time.
