Haredi Rabbis Order Kosher Cellphone Providers To Block Numbers Of Rape Crisis And Suicide Prevention Hotlines

Providers of haredi-rabbi-endorsed 'kosher' cellphones have reportedly blocked the numbers of rape crisis and suicide prevention hotlines on the orders of haredi rabbis, leaving haredi women in a dangerous position and causing Israel's Ministry of Communications to demand answers. Cellphone providers say that complied with the haredi rabbis' demands due to fear the rabbis would destroy their haredi business if they did not.

As Pinni notes in a Facebook comment, they also blocked the number of the Israeli Hillel nonprofit which, like Footsteps n America, helps haredi people who want to leave haredi communities and integrate into Israeli society to do so.
