A Breslov hasid was reportedly arrested in Kiev, Ukraine’s airport yesterday for allegedly disruptive behavior. The hasid was returning from Breslov’s annual pilgrimage to the grave of their founder, Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, in the Ukrainian town of Uman when his flight was delayed for several hours.
Yeshiva World reported that Breslov community leaders interceded with police and were able to gain the release of the hasid, who immediately boarded the flight – which had been forced to wait for him – and left for Israel. The total flight delay – including the time taken up by the arrest, the negotiations and the hasid’s eventual release – reportedly totaled approximately seven hours and kept 300 passengers waiting.
