Military Police Go House To House To Warn Haredi Draft Dodgers That They Will Be Arrested If They Do Not Report

Military Police went to the haredi town of Elad and haredi neighborhoods of the Jerusalem bedroom suburb of Beit Shemesh Monday looking for haredim who had not yet reported to the IDF induction center after being drafted, Yeshiva World reported.
The military police action was apparently a reaction to an ad (pictured above) appearing in the Ashkenazi haredi non-hasidic newspaper HaPeles, which is the house organ of uber-conservative haredi leader Rabbi Shmuel Auerbach.
The ad, ordered haredi yeshiva students not to report to IDF induction centers based on the ruling of Auerbach.
Military Police warned these yeshiva students to report to the induction center to do so or face arrest.
So far, no arrests seem to have been made.
All major haredi rabbinic leaders oppose drafting haredi yeshiva students.
But while some give lip service to the idea that haredim who no longer study in yeshiva could be drafted, Auerbach and like minded rabbis insist that no haredi man who is a yeshiva student or who is living a haredi lifestyle should be drafted.
